Dr. Winters Muttamba holds a Medical degree from Makerere University, an MPH from International Health Sciences University and a Post graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute. He currently works at the Makerere University Lung Institute as a Project Manager for the African Severe Asthma Program (ASAP). Prior to joining the Lung Institute, his previous engagements have been in the field of HIV/TB initially with SUSTAIN project under the Ministry of Health as a Medical officer attached to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and later as a Project Officer under a TB REACH Project with the Foundation for Innovative New diagnostics (FIND). He has also coordinated a Tuberculosis Operations Research study of the East African Public Health Laboratory Networking Project (EAPHLNP). His engagements in TB have been mainly around the use of molecular diagnostics (Xpert MTB/RIF) in programmatic settings and strengthening of the HIV/TB collaboration.
