About the School

Kakungulu Memorial School-Kibuli, also called the Kakungulu Project, was established in 1994 by the Kibuli Muslim Primary Teachers College in collabration with the Uganda Muslim Education Association. It is licensed by the education ministry and has a Uganda National Examinations Board center number.

The school is a mixed day and boarding secondary school with an enrolment of 1820 students with the majority being Muslim. The employees are made up of 80 teaching staff members, 20 non- teaching staff members, 56 support staff.

The objectives of the school are to pass out academically excellent and God fearing students with leadership skills. They want to equip students with knowledge and skills that provides an integrated approach to solving problems. They seek to create a positive attitude to learning and increase literacy levels through provision of holistic education. Haj. Jamil Buwembo, head teacher and secretary of the board said the school's activities consists of academics and learning, sports and co-curricular, corporate social responsibility, guidance and counseling and club activities which include debate programs.

Buwembo said the school through its strategic plan seeks to construct a state of the art three storied girls complex, they want to tarmac the school compound, join the national sewer system and construct a modern boy's hostel. The plan seeks to modernize the sports field, set up a modern water supply system and construct a student hostels for both boys and girls and to improve the infrastructure of the school in other respects primary school.

Hajj Musoke Musoke Abdul is the board chairman in the school’s governance structure. The school boasts of two housing estates, it has a 60-seater bus and two double cabin pick- up trucks. The school has been in existence for 20 years, it has modern science laboratories and has a 50mw capacity generator to light the school during load shedding.
