About the School

Kibuli Medical Laboratory Training School started its operations in 2011. It started with two programs, a certificate and diploma in medical laboratory technique with 32 pioneer students who completed in June 2013.

Birungi Sulaina, the acting principal Kibuli Medical Laboratory Training School, said the institution is planning to start an evening programme for the diploma in medical laboratory testing. They are planning to offer a degree programme in medical laboratory technology since it has the requirements and facilities.

Sulaina said the institution does its enrolment for each academic year. They start in January by undertaking the process of receiving applications, doing interviews and selection and thereafter the term begins in August. 

The institution is planning to start an evening programme for the diploma in medical laboratory testing.

The school carries out continuous classroom teaching, whereby in the middle of the semester, students do pre-Uganda Allied Health Examinations, which contributes 30% of the national end of semester examinations, during the semester students are taken on study tours.  Every end of semester students do national exams whereby the institution has been among the top five performers. 

Baylor Uganda in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has been sponsoring students and giving donations such as chairs, textbooks, computers and sponsoring student tutors. During the semester the school takes students for study tours to different centers such as Nakasero Blood Bank, Public Health Kasangati Training Wing, Mulago Histo-pathology Laboratory and Bugolobi Fresh Dairies.
